What Happens In Mexico During February?
Mexico offers visitors festivals and events every month of the year. It does not matter when you visit this country, there is always something to do or see.
During February, there are several events and festivals, starting with a national holiday on the first Monday of the month, in honor of Constitution Day. February is normally one of the driest months in the year and temperatures are starting to rise. February is also the height of the Monarch butterfly season, making it a perfect time to visit the reserves in the country.
Candlemas
Candlemas is celebrated on February 2 across the country. It may be Groundhog Day in the US, but this is a religious holiday in Mexico, which marks the closure of the Christmas season in the calendar of the church. Folks normally dress up images of Jesus as a baby and take them to church for it to be blessed.
Constitution Day
Constitution Day or Dia de la Constitución is celebrated on the first Monday of February. This national holiday commemorates the 1917 constitution that was initiated by Venustiano Carranza, after the revolution.
Zona Maco
This is an art fair which takes place from February 4 to 8 and is held in Hall D at the Centro Banamex in Mexico City. There are five different sections to the fair. There is a general admission fee, but children under the age of 12 are admitted free of charge.

Carnaval
Carnaval takes place during the week leading up to Ash Wednesday. Although many people consider Brazil to be the place to go for Carnaval, cities in Mexico celebrate this event with as much aplomb. The events take place across the country, in different locations.
Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February 14th, across the country. In Mexico, this is not only a day for lovers to celebrate, it is also a time set aside to celebrate friendship, and both lovers and friends exchange flowers, gifts and cards.
Chinese New Year
The date of this event changes from year to year, but the celebrations are normally hosted by Mexico City’s China Town, which can be found on Dolores Street, close to the Bellas Artes metro.
Todos Santos Film Festival
This event takes place from February 20 to 28. It celebrates the excellence and uniqueness of Latino cinema globally by featuring local filmmakers. In excess of 25 films from different genres are screened at special events on Baja California.
Aside from the events mentioned above, you can participate in Flag Day, San Pancho Music Festival and go and watch some excellent tennis matches at the Mexican Tennis Open. These events take place from February 24 to March 1.
