Alameda Park

The Alameda Central is located in the historic center of Mexico City. There are several statues and monuments strewn throughout the park, but the most renowned building is the Palacio de Bellas Artes, a beautiful Art Nouveau building with an Art Deco interior surrounded by beautiful gardens, and its interior has paintings by famous Mexican artists.

Museo Nacional de Antropología (National Museum of Anthropology)

The National Museum of Anthropology in Chapultepec Park is home to beautiful and educational exhibits of the country’s pre-Colombian cultures.

The astounding collection of artifacts in the museum was gathered from all over Mexico and they can’t be seen in any other place. They range from a huge statue of a rain god to a funeral mask covered with emerald, turquoise and shell, as well as the largest assortment of Aztec treasures to be found anywhere. This is the kind of place you don’t want to miss when you are in Mexico City. You will need at least half a day to wander through it, so make sure to plan ahead of time.

Xochimilco

Xochimilco is a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated South of Mexico City, roughly one hour‘s drive.  It provides a uniquely Mexican experience. Here you can see the residual Lake, which is the remnant of Mexico’s ancient Aztec empire Xochimilco, with the canals and semi-floating gardens that were constructed by the Aztecs centuries back.
